Privacy policy
renamr is a Mac app made by Musa Studios. The short version: the app renames your files on your Mac. We don’t have accounts, we don’t see your files, and we don’t track you.
The renamr app
- Your files stay on your Mac. Renaming, previews, undo history and backups all happen on your Mac. We never upload your files, their names or their contents.
- No account. There is no sign-up or sign-in, so we hold no profile about you.
- On-device AI. Premium name suggestions and text recognition run on your Mac using Apple’s on-device features. File contents are not sent to us.
- Optional place names. If you use the city and country lookup for photo locations, the app sends the photo’s location coordinates to Apple’s geocoding service to get a place name. You can turn this off in Settings. Apple handles that request under Apple’s privacy policy.
- No analytics or ads. The app has no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
- Crash reports. If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in macOS settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. You control this in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Purchases
You buy renamr Premium through the Mac App Store. Apple handles payment and gives us sales reports, but we don’t receive your name, email or payment details. Restoring a purchase is handled by Apple on your Mac.
This website
- No analytics or tracking cookies. This site doesn’t use analytics, ads or tracking pixels.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request data to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
- Fonts. Fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
- Theme setting. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
- Spam protection. The support form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending it. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser and doesn’t show ads or track you across sites. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Launch news. The “Get launch news” sign-up isn’t active yet and doesn’t store your email. We’ll update this policy before it starts collecting addresses.
Support requests
When you use the support form or email us, we receive your name, your email address, the type of request, your message and, if you add them, your macOS and app versions. We use this only to answer you and to fix problems you report. Your request arrives as an email in our support inbox. We keep it as long as we need it to help you and then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. The only services involved are the ones named above: Apple (App Store, optional geocoding, optional crash reports), Cloudflare (hosting and spam protection), Google Fonts, and our email service providers, which deliver and store support emails. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what support messages we have from you, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them. Email apps@musastudios.com. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have more rights under local law, and we’ll honor them.
Children
renamr is a general-audience utility. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change how renamr or this site handles data, we’ll update this page and its effective date.
